Back in August of 2022, Dodge unveiled an early concept of what would reportedly become a fully-electric Charger muscle car production model. Despite jettisoning its petrol-powered engine for an all-electric powertrain, the concept managed to retain much of the spirit and DNA of its gas-fed predecessor, in terms of both performance and aesthetics. Approximately two-and-a-half-years-later and Dodge has now finally pulled the cover off of the production-ready 2024 Charger EV Range — and the thing looks a lot like the original concept from the summer of 2022.

This 2024 model year vehicle stands as Dodge’s first first-ever all-electric vehicles, as well as the brand’s first model to utilize Stellantis’ STLA Large EV platform. Offered in both two-door and four-door versions, the new lineup is comprised of the Dodge Charger Daytona R/T and the Charger Daytona Scat Pack. The R/T-spec features a 496-hp powertrain while the more high-end Charger Daytona Scat Pack packs a 670-hp unit that allows for 0-60mph runs in 3.3 seconds and quarter mile springs in 11.5 seconds — allowing the Charger to retain its title of the world’s quickest and most powerful muscle car. Equipped with Dodge’s new patent-pending front R-Wing pass-through aero elements, the exterior of the electric muscle cars feature a sleek and futuristic design language yet are still recognizable as members of the Charger family. Inside, the cabins feature 64-color interior lighting, flat-bottom steering wheels, and an available Head-Up display. On top of all-wheel drive, the Charger Daytona models also come loaded with Direct Connection Stage kits as standard, plus can be further upgraded with a Stage 2 kit that adds an additional 80 horses.

Despite the Hellcat Redeye-comparable performance offered by these RVs, the Charger Daytona R/T and Charger Daytona Scat Pack offer ranges of 317 miles and 260 miles respectively, plus both variants can receive 20% to 80% charges in just a little over 27 minutes (when using a Level 3 DC CCS fast charger). The cars also ride on a 20” wheel-set with staggered Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar 3 (305 front/325 rear) tires — marking the biggest tire package ever offered on a Charger.  Also included are massive 16” vented rotors bit by six-pot calipers up front and four-piston items out back — hardware provided by Brembo and items that can be supplemented via an available customizable regenerative braking system. The next-gen Charger EV is also being offered with several race options including Donut and Drift modes and a pair of race prep options. Other noteworthy features and tech include Dodge’s new patent-pending Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust which delivers faux gas engine sounds, a PowerShot feature that delivers a 40-hp boost for 15-second periods, and a Drive Experience Recorder that logs and records drag race and circuit runs complete with synchronized in-car audio, video, and vehicle data logging.

Built at the marque’s Windsor, Ontario assembly plant, the 2024 Dodge Charger EV range and its various model variants are slated to enter production by no later than Q1 of 2025. In addition to all of the electric variants, Dodge will also be releasing a pair of petrol-powered next-gen Chargers with a 420-hp Charger SIXPACK S.O. and an even more potent 550-hp Charger SIXPACK H.O. —  both of which feature a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six.
