Successor to the C/K Series, the Chevrolet Silverado is an immensely popular full-sized pickup truck that was first introduced in 1998. And while the American pickup is currently on its fourth generation, Chevy has just announced that the model range will be receiving its most substantial and envelope-pushing update yet with the debut of the all-new Silverado EV.
The Silverado EV was engineered from the ground up as a fully-electric pickup and is constructed around GM’s state-of-the-art Ultium EV Platform. Unlike Chevy’s Bolt EV, the electrified Silverado range actually boasts some objectively impressive specs and performance capabilities, with the proton-powered pickup packing 664hp and over 780ft-lbs of instantly-accessible torque, allowing for a 10,000-lb tow rating, a 1,300-lb payload capacity, and a 4.5-second 0-60mph time. In addition to offering Fast Charging with speeds of up to 350kW as standard and as much as 10.2kW of onboard power, the Silverado EV’s battery pack also affords a range of around 400 miles on a single charge. The new electric pickup truck will also be offered in a variety of specs, including the job site-focused Work Truck version, the sporty-yet-rugged RST-spec, and the off-road-ready Trail Boss variant.
Starting from around $39,900, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV lineup is slated to debut in the Spring of 2023, first with the WT spec, before the more high-end RST and Trail Boss variants hit dealerships in the Fall of the same year.
