Over the franchise’s many installments, James Bond has piloted all manner of exotic and noteworthy cars, however, the vehicle most closely associated with the super spy is undoubtedly the Aston Martin DB5. The DB5 first appeared in 1964’s Goldfinger (using what was actually an early prototype DB5), before being featured in Thunderball, GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, Casino Royale, Skyfall, Spectre, and No Time to Die. And with 2024 marking the 60th anniversary since the Aston Martin’s inaugural appearance in a Bond flick, the British marque has partnered with the franchise in order to deliver a limited run of Goldfinger Edition DB12 supercars.

The Basics

The DB12 Goldfinger Edition is a limited edition commemorative super-tourer that features a slew of nods and references to the DB5, Goldfinger, and the rest of the Bond film franchise. In addition to a custom paint option, this limited run also gets a host of special interior elements and a unique limited edition gift box sold with each unit.

Q (Branch) By Aston Martin

In order to bring this limited edition model to life, the services of the British marque’s Q By Aston Martin bespoke division were called upon. This elite in-house division was then responsible for selecting the bespoke upholstery, patterns and inserts, and decadent trim and interior finishes of the Goldfinger Edition DB12.

Exterior Elements

The DB5 prototype seen in Goldfinger famously wore a Silver Birch paint job. As such, when Aston Martin began developing the Goldfinger Edition, Silver Birch was the obvious choice for this limited edition DB12’s livery. This Silver Birch paint has been complemented by bespoke gold side strakes, an Aston Martin logo badge in silver with a black enamel, bright chrome ‘Q’ fender badges, and 21-inch multi-spoke wheels with a diamond treatment finish and black brake calipers.

Q-Designed Cabin

The interior of the DB12 Goldfinger Edition has received just as much attention as the exterior of the car and now boasts a slew of model-exclusive details. The cabin features leather Sports Plus seats with Prince of Wales check perforation inserts — with the insert pattern being borrowed from a classic James Bond suit. This pattern is also used for the headliner and door inserts, plus is etched onto a unique treadplate.

The inside of the super-grand tourer also gets a polished sill plaque with a special Goldfinger 60th anniversary logo, a carbon fiber trim package with gold metal fibers woven into the composite, and an ’eight of hearts’ design embroidered onto the drivers’ sun visor — a reference to the gin rummy game played at the hotel pool scene in Goldfinger. Rounding out the cabin are 18k Gold Plated interior accents on the drive mode rotary dial, roller controls, and notched gear selector.

Under The Hood

At the heart of the Goldfinger Edition DB12 is the standard super-tourer’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine. Offering best-in-class power, this finely-tuned powertrain cranks out 670hp and 590ft-lbs — figures that allow it to do 0-60mph in under 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 202mph.

Included Extras

Each of these limited edition Bond-themed DB12s comes with a myriad of model-exclusive goodies including a custom car cover, a luxury key presentation box, a matching Silver Birch Speedform mode, a section of the iconic Furka Pass scene in Goldfinger in 35mm film, and a 1/60 golden limited edition Aston Martin magazine — all packaged in a Globe-Trotter attaché case with a Silver Birch body and a Prince of Wales check interior (just like the limited edition car). Buyers are also given the option of adding a magnum of 2007 vintage Champagne Bollinger along with with four exclusive Bollinger 007 glasses and a bespoke Globe-Trotter Air Cabin Case.

Straight From The Horse’s Mouth

“The relationship between Aston Martin and the James Bond franchise is something that is always treasured”, explains Marco Mattiacci, Global Chief Brand and Commercial Officer.  “It is an incredible occasion to be able to recognise six decades of this partnership with an extraordinary special edition, and pay homage to the very first – and perhaps most famous Aston Martin Bond car. Incorporating these subtle but impactful touches, developed by our own ‘Q’ department has created a very unique offering; one that will be adored by Bond fans across the world.”
