When David Brown took the helm of English manufacturer Aston Martin in 1947, he launched the label into stardom thanks to its top-of-the-line GTs. The DB series of cars (named after the man himself) became especially popular, with the legendary DB5’s role in Goldfinger further cementing the company as an automotive and British icon. The DB series was kicked into high gear following Brown’s death in the early nineties, and most (somewhat) recently, the 2016 release of the DB11 marked notable improvements in the series and left fans excited for the next release. This excitement was amplified when the company dropped a teaser about a week ago, and now the Aston Martin DB12 has finally been revealed. Feeling that grand wasn’t enough, the DB12 is a “Super Tourer” with significant improvements on the previous model and a better driver experience.
This new addition to the DB series has 670 horsepower and 590 lbs of torque (thanks to the twin-turbo 4.0 liter V8), a top speed of 202 mph, and reaches 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds. The suspension has been updated as well with dampers that adapt to your driving, along with added power-assisted steering and an electronic rear differential. Contributing to the comfort and control in tandem with the new steering system, the Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tires have been fitted with noise-canceling foam to reduce noise.
As for the interior, Aston Martin wanted to double down on the luxury with Bridge of Weir leather upholstery and a new infotainment system. It’s a marriage between a classic feel with the benefits of modern technology and design. Through the label’s app (or on your device), you can wirelessly control music, directions, and updates. The DB12 is a remarkable addition to the lineup courtesy of the improved chassis and the luxurious design.
Deliveries for the Aston Martin DB12 will begin during Q3 of this year, although there’s no official price yet. More information is available on the car’s landing page.
