Founded in 2006 by a former NASA engineer, Zero Motorcycles has spent the last 16 years pushing the two-wheeled EV envelope, with the California company being responsible for a slew of innovations in its space, steadily raising the bar both in terms of performance and range. And after a decade and a half in operation, these advancements have now culminated in the release of Zero’s first-ever purpose-built adventure bike model with the fully-electric DSR/X.

The DSR/X has been constructed around an all-new chassis that was designed specifically for adventure riding. This new frame is also paired with an inverted 47mm Showa Separate Function Cartridge Fork and a 46mm mono-shock that both offer 7.48” of travel and are adjustable for preload, compression, and rebound damping. Running off of Zero’s state-of-the-art CYPHER III+ operating system, the bike is powered by the EV outfit’s Z-Force 75-10 passively air-cooled, torque-optimized interior permanent magnet AC motor, which puts down 100hp and 166ft-lbs of torque.

Capable of receiving a 95% charge in only one hour when using a 6kW rapid charger, the bike draws from Zero’s Z-Force 17.3-kWh battery pack that offers a city range of 180 miles, a highway range of 107, and a combined range of 134 miles. Zero also offers an optional Power Tank upgrade that unlocks 21-kWh of charging capacity. Boasting a curb weight of 544lbs, the DSR/X also sports a top speed of 112mph. Other highlights on the DSR/X include three integrated storage compartments, ABS-equipped J-Juan brakes, a Gates Moto X9 Carbon belt drive, Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tires, a 900 Amp, 3-phase AC controller with regenerative deceleration, a 60” wheelbase, a TFT display, and an advanced electronics package that includes Bosch Advanced MSC with Combined Braking, Vehicle Hold Control, and a dedicated Off-Road mode, just to name a few.

Offered in Sage Green or White Pearl color options, the 2023 Zero Motorcycles DSR/X Adventure Bike is available now with pricing starting at $24,495.
