In late 2021, American fashion designer, artist, architect, and creative director Virgil Abloh sadly passed away at just 41. And while this, unfortunately, means we won’t be treated to any new projects or releases from Abloh, we’re nonetheless now getting to see the fruits of the final efforts he worked on just prior to his passing — the latest of which is the Off-White founder’s third and final collab with Mercedes–Maybach from the pair’s Project MAYBACH.
Meticulously crafted by the customization and craftsmanship team at Mercedes-Benz MANUFAKTUR, the limited-edition Maybach by Virgil Abloh is based on the new 2023 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class S 680 and boasts a slew of features and elements that are unique to this limited-edition model. This includes a two-tone sand and gloss black paint job, a special set of matching forged wheels, and special Abloh and Maybach badging.
Sporting a four-seat configuration, the interior of the limited-edition Maybach has also been heavily reworked, and now features an identical two-tone color scheme with black accents and sand Nappa leather upholstery, bespoke floor mats and door inserts, and a special version of the Maybach MBUX suite system that features custom Abloh graphics and branding.
Slated for an American market release later this year, the 2023 Mercedes-Maybach Limited-Edition S 680 by Virgil Abloh will be limited to only 150 units worldwide —each of which is sold with a special custom-made leather-bound wooden box that contains a 1/18 scale replica of the limited-edition car, a pair of keys, and a special carabiner hook, as well as a special-edition car cover. There’s even an accompanying clothing capsule released alongside the car, as well.
