The Mustang Mach-E GT is one of Ford’s more recent EV offerings and won Car and Driver’s “EV of the Year” award beating three Tesla models and the Porsche Taycan. If that isn’t enough convincing for you, Shelby American has now entered the ring with its Ford Mustang Mach-E GT upgrade kit. Coinciding with Shelby’s 100th birthday, this kit marks the American tuning brand’s first foray into the electric vehicle segment.
Based on the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT, the Shelby Mustang Mach-E GT improves upon the electric all-wheel drive to enhance handling and styling. The package is based on a concept version they showed at SEMA a few years ago and since this is its first crack at electric vehicles, Shelby wanted to get it right. After rigorous testing on the track, they decided to lower and tighten the SUV’s suspension, cut weight on top, and reduce rotating mass. As for the drivetrain, it’s the same as the Mach-E GT with 480hp and 675ft-lbs of torque, but Shelby has included Borla’s Active Performance Sound System under the vehicle which uses real-time data to produce a faithful combustion engine sound with zero latency.
The kit also features multiple carbon fiber pieces for the exterior and the livery clearly pays homage to vintage Shelby paint jobs with the iconic stripes, this time accented with an electric blue.
Limited to 100 units worldwide, the Shelby Mustang Mach-E GT upgrade kit is available a la carte and can be installed on existing 2021-2023 models, or purchased as a complete turnkey vehicle from select Ford dealerships. The package starts at €24,900 (~$27,400) — a figure that does not include the price of the $63,995 donor vehicle, bringing the complete EV’s total cost up to $91,400.
