Traditionally, luxury automakers have placed the lion’s share of their resources into the development of their full-size sedans and grand touring models, however, with the immense rise in popularity of sport utility vehicles, SUVs are increasingly becoming the flagship offerings of many of these brands — including BMW, which has just rolled out a new and improved take on its full-size X7 luxury SUV.
Heavily revised for the 2023 model year, BMW’s latest Sport Activity Vehicle has been seen its exterior completely reworked with redesigned bumpers and exhaust finishers, and a new front-end setup with a sleek new split headlight design that’s capped off with a pair of LED DRLs. Offered with BMW’s optional M Sport Package (and M Sport Package Pro), the latest X7 is being produced in three trim levels: the base model 380-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six-powered X7 xDrive40i, the mid-range 352-hp diesel inline-six-powered X7 xDrive40d, and the range-topping 530-hp 4.4-liter bi-turbo V8-powered X7 M60i xDrive — all of which benefit from BMW’s latest iteration of 48-volt mild-hybrid tech.
Capable of clocking 0-60mph runs in just 5.6 seconds, the X7 M60i xDrive comes standard with rear-wheel steering, adaptive two-axle air suspension, and 22” wheels. As one would expect from BMW, the interior has been treated to a slew of high-tech amenities including a single-piece curved glass display that houses both the instrument cluster and infotainment screens. All three models (destined for the North American market) will also be produced at BMW’s Spartanburg, South Carolina plant.
Offered in a whopping 40 different color options, the 2023 BMW X7 SUV is slated to hit the North American market by the end of the year, with pricing starting at $78,845 for the base model xDrive40i and going up to $104,095 for the top-of-the-line M60i trim. What’s more, ALPINA will also be releasing an XB7 version of the X7 sometime in 2023.
