The rapid advancements occurring in the EV sector have given rise to a host of battery-powered vehicles with otherworldly spec sheets and performance capabilities. The latest of these machines comes from Spanish startup Stark with the brand’s all-new fully-electric VARG motocrosser.

Offering performance comparable to a 450cc MX bike in a sub-250lb package, the VARG is constructed around what’s being touted as the world’s lightest motocross chassis. Paired with the planet’s smallest inverter and housed in a water-cooled case, the VARG is powered by a carbon fiber sleeve electric motor that acts as a structural element that weighs less than 20lbs while affording the highest power-to-weight ratio in the entire motorcycle industry with the VARG putting down 80hp and a whopping 691.8ft-lbs of instantaneously accessible torque. Utilizing a state-of-the-art “Flying V” battery design, the cell features the world’s most energy-dense battery system and boasts a patent-pending lightweight honeycomb magnesium battery case structure that sees every single cell connected directly to the casing. IP69K-rated, the 6kWh battery requires one-to-two hours for a full recharge and affords up to six hours of ride time. Affording 12.2” of travel front and aft, the VARG’s suspension was developed through a collaboration with Kayaba and Technical Touch and comes pre-tuned for one of seven different weight ranges. The VARG is sold with two rear wheel size options, an 18” enduro hoop or a 19” dedicated off-road wheel, plus is offered with or without a side stand, and with the option for a hand or foot-operated rear brake. The VARG also comes loaded with tech and offers connectivity to a dedicated smartphone app while featuring a shock-resistant and waterproof Android phone that serves as the machine’s display. And, on top of offering more than 100 different ride modes, the bike can also have elements custom dialed in such as power curve, engine braking, and traction control. Other noteworthy details include forged and CNC-machined wheels, the world’s lightest foot-pegs, Brembo brakes, and an innovative skid plate fortified via low-density foam.

Available in three color options and in 60hp or 80hp versions, the Stark VARG is available for preorder now, with deliveries scheduled to commence in Q4 of 2022. Pricing for the electric motocrosser starts at $11,900.
