RAM Unleashes a Limited Sandblast Edition 1500 TRX Super Truck

Over the last decade, the high-performance pickup — or “super truck” — sector has absolutely exploded in popularity, leading to the release of numerous immensely capable turnkey models from big-name brands. One such model is RAM’s 1500 TRX, a performance-focused, off-road-ready pickup that first debuted over the summer of 2020. And after the initial success of RAM’s super truck, the company has now been prompted to unleash yet another special-edition variant of the 1500 TRX known as the Sandblast Edition.

Starting with the already extremely capable TRX 1500 — the world’s most powerful mass-produced truck — RAM has treated the Sandblast Edition to a slew of visual tweaks inside and out. This includes a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, a spray-in bed liner with cargo tie-down points, blacked-out 18” Beadlock-capable wheels that are specific to the Sandblast Edition, and a model-exclusive Mojave Sand livery and graphics package. Inside, the truck gets a paddle shifter-equipped leather and carbon fiber flat-bottom steering wheel, a carbon trim package, a Sandblast Edition-specific HUD, a unique center console badge, and Light Frost accent stitching adorning the cabin’s upholstery.

The supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 at the heart of the TRX — and its 702hp, 650ft-lbs of torque, and 4.5-second 0-60mph time — goes unchanged, as do the truck’s Bilstein Black Hawk E2 shocks, 11.8” of ground clearance, and 14” of travel. The Sandblast-spec truck also comes loaded with the TRX Level 2 Equipment Group pack as standard, and as such features a surround-view camera system, blindspot and cross path detection, power-adjustable pedals, pickup box lighting, trailer brake control, and onboard wireless charging, just to name a few amenities.

Scheduled to go on sale later this summer, the 2022 RAM 1500 TRX Sandblast Edition starts at $98,285 — plus a $1,795 destination fee. To introduce the motoring public to the new limited edition model, RAM also tapped world-famous wheelman Ken Block to test the vehicle in the desert of Southern California — an experience that was captured in the YouTube video below.
