WESN Reimagines Its Core EDC Knives in Titanium and M390 for the Ridgeback Collection

Detroit-based WESN has been quietly building a reputation for creating knives that balance aesthetics with hardcore functionality, and nowhere is that more apparent than in the brand’s latest drop. The Ridgeback Collection takes four of WESN’s core models — the Allman, Bornas, Samla, and Henry — and reimagines them through a distinctly rugged lens. If you’ve been following the brand since its 2017 launch (when founders Sam and Weston started hand-making knives in a Michigan garage), you’ll recognize these names immediately. But you’ve never seen them like this.

The Collection

The collection’s defining feature is that hammered, rocky-textured titanium handle treatment paired with an upgrade to Böhler M390 blade steel. For those in the know, M390 sits near the top of the blade steel hierarchy, offering exceptional edge retention and corrosion resistance that frankly outpaces most of what you’ll find at this price point. Combined with CNC-machined Grade 5 titanium scales, these pieces feel like they’re built for decades rather than years.

Ridgeback Allman: The Everyday Workhorse Gets an Upgrade

The Ridgeback Allman is the collection’s most substantial offering at 3.65oz and with a 2.8-inch blade. WESN split the handle treatment here — textured titanium up front for grip, smooth on the back so it’s more comfortable in your pocket. It’s built with the same frame-lock mechanism and rear flipper deployment as before. Each one ships with a matching titanium lanyard bead that mimics the mountain-ridge texture of the handles.

Ridgeback Bornas: Fixed-Blade for the Trail

Where the Allman handles EDC, the Ridgeback Bornas is purpose-built for wilderness use. This full-tang fixed blade measures just 5.9″ overall, making it compact enough for easy carry while maintaining the heft needed for outdoor utility. The 2.75mm blade thickness provides backbone without unnecessary weight, and the included Kydex sheath keeps everything secure on your belt or pack. At $400, it’s the priciest knife in the collection, but that’s full-tang titanium construction for you.

Ridgeback Samla: Friction Folder with Swedish Charm

The Ridgeback Samla brings a different energy to the collection. At 1.4oz, it’s the lightest option here and features a friction folder design that’s become increasingly popular among purists. The sheepsfoot blade profile makes it particularly well-suited for food prep and detail work. Rather than a lanyard attachment, WESN includes a hand-crafted Swedish veg-tan leather sheath that adds warmth to the otherwise industrial titanium aesthetic.

Ridgeback Henry: Classic Slip-Joint Modernized

The Ridgeback Henry rounds out the collection with a traditional slip-joint mechanism that feels decidedly analog in 2025. At just 1.6oz with a 2.35-inch blade, this is the knife for situations where you need something compact but capable. The titanium handle maintains the Ridgeback aesthetic while the nail nick deployment pays homage to pocket knives your grandfather might have carried — albeit with considerably more advanced materials.

The entire Ridgeback Collection is available now, with prices ranging from $225 for the Samla up to $400 for the Bornas. Production is severely limited — only 200 Allmans exist, with the other three models capped at 100 pieces each.
