When you look at the current EDC landscape, most premium pens fall into the same couple of categories. They’re either beautifully crafted showpieces that you’re afraid to actually use or tactical tools that prioritize function over form. Rarely is there a writing utensil that can stand up the beating your pocket will give it while still looking attractive regardless. The newest release from Titaner, however, refuses to compromise one for the other.
After spending two decades mastering titanium craftsmanship, the Chinese company has created what might legitimately be the last pen you’ll ever need to buy. In fact, they’re so confident in that claim that they’re backing it with a 100-year warranty.

YOUR Future GRANDKIDS’ Favorite Pen
Established in 2005, Titaner has built its reputation crafting titanium EDC pocket accessories from mult-itools to knives to rulers. Just recently they’ve announced a minimalist titanium belt buckle that’s pretty rad. But with their Dragon Pearl pen, they’ve proven a pen shouldn’t just look good on your desk but should be ready for just about anything.
Dubbed the “Dream Pen,” the Dragon Pearl is beautiful but also durable enough to be passed down through the generations. Unlike many “premium” pens that mask plastic internals with a shiny exterior, Titaner has gone all-in on titanium from a construction standpoint. That includes internal springs and a patented “Dual-Wing Trajectory” click mechanism, which they claim will survive over a million clicks. This obsessiveness over the lightweight metal means the pen can handle anything from deep ocean pressure to the extreme temperatures of space. To prove the latter is not just hyperbole, the Dragon Pearl is actually compatible with Fisher’s Space Pen refills. Moreover, the pen has also undergone the “Million-Time Press Test” to ensure you can truly get at least a million clicks out of it.

DETAILS THAT MATTER
Building the pen with a guided thread design so “anyone can disassemble and reassemble it blindfolded,” Titaner has also aimed to tackle the biggest annoyances that pen enthusiasts may go through. This includes a dedicated spring holder so you don’t accidentally lose the spring when replacing the refill. There’s also a micro air channel system to regulate atmospheric pressure to preclude any ink flow issues. To reduce hand fatigue, the pen’s center of gravity has been deliberately shifted towards the tip. Likewise, the slightly extended tip gives you better visibility for more precision when writing.
Perhaps the epitome of balancing form with function is the eponymous “dragon pearl” itself, which is a rolling bead at the end of the pocket clip that prevents fabric damage as you repeatedly slide it in and out of your pocket. Titaner has literally thought of just about everything here.

MODULAR MAYHEM
Where the Dragon Pearl really shines as an EDC piece is in its modular design. Users can choose between knurled or hexagonal grip patterns, titanium or M390 hardened steel tips (the latter doubling as an emergency glass-breaker), and different color rolling beads to match your ink color of choice. The company has also teased future attachments that transform the pen into a multi-tool, with potential add-ons including a graphite “everlasting pencil,” a scalpel blade, and various screwdriver bits. We’ll just have to wait and see what the future holds for this 100-year pen.
