Traditional wallets are great and have evolved considerably in the past decade or so. That said, a bare-bones money clip, while not for everyone, can be a solid option for classier situations (weddings, graduations, etc.) or for those who prefer cash over cards (after all, most of our cards can be accessed on our phones these days anyway). It can also help force you to minimize what you’re stuffing into your pockets. Even the classiest bifolds tend to turn into giant catch-all pockets for things you’ll soon forget about months later. Adding to its arsenal of magnificent, design-forward everyday carry gear, The James Brand introduces a new money clip that will make even the biggest detractors reconsider their stance.

Believe it or not, this is the California-based gear brand’s first-ever money clip, and it took them years of R&D and customer behests before finally settling on this debut model. Dubbed The Martindale, the sturdy unit utilizes a single piece of 6al-4v titanium, meaning it doesn’t have any moving parts. Money clips are minimalist by nature, and this model captures that essence with an appropriately minimalist aesthetic. But would you expect anything less from the de facto king of EDC?

Made to fit easily into your front pocket, The Martindale comes in standard titanium color or black and is 2.1” x 1” x 0.3” when empty. Titanium as a material is known for its corrosion resistance and incredible weight reduction, especially when compared to stainless steel (it’s about half of the weight on average). As such, this money clip weighs just 0.5oz. Thanks to modern technological advancements, titanium is much more accessible and affordable these days, which is why you’ll notice a preponderance of the material across the EDC space.
