A few years back, rooftop tents seemed to be having a moment. With the influx of gen-Z campers and overlanders, practicality was reigning supreme. These above-grounders are not only serious space-savers, especially when you don’t have kids, but can preclude things like critters, wet ground, and uneven terrain. Also, the raised vantage point can offer quite the view.
It’s even more of a curiosity why preeminent outdoor gear brand Snow Peak has waited until now to get into the game. But, as they say, it’s better late than never, so please join us in welcoming the Field Rise Rooftop Tent.

The Snow Peak Legacy
Snow Peak has been dominating the car camping scene since Tohru Yamai steered the company in that direction back in the 1980s. Decades of perfecting modular cookware, fire pits, and camp furniture have built a reputation around turning your vehicle into a mobile basecamp. And that’s why a rooftop tent feels overdue.

Air Frame Architecture
As you can expect, the Field Rise diverges from traditional rooftop tents. It utilizes an inflatable air frame, which keeps weight down and means compatibility with a broader range of vehicles, including those with lower dynamic roof load ratings. The air frame also eliminates the pole assembly that plagues hard-shell alternatives. Everything deploys from a compact soft-shell package covered in PVC-coated material that’s both wind and water resistant.
Snow Peak designed the Field Rise with Japan’s climate in mind — hot summers, cold winters, and everything in between. The double-wall construction helps prevent condensation you’ll get on single-layer tents.
The entrance opens wide, and mesh windows on three sides provide airflow while still giving you privacy. There’s also a dedicated “earthen floor” space at the entry where you can ditch your boots before crawling into the sleeping area. Snow Peak hasn’t disclosed standing height or interior dimensions, but we do know it’s big enough for two adults inside.

Maintenance and Modularity
Also included is a six-foot tarp and 83-inch pole that hooks directly to the tent entrance, creating covered living space beneath your vehicle so you can have a shady spot during the day. Best of all, every component of the Field Rise is removable, so you can pull it apart to clean or replace it when something wears out.
