After 50 years of pushing optical boundaries, Oakley has identified a problem that’s been hiding in plain sight: Performance eyewear that can’t keep up with modern athletes. While the company built its reputation on everything from pioneering Unobtainium rubber grips in 1975 to developing Prizm lens technology, the Stunt Collection brings something different entirely.

When Physics Meets Performance
The centerpiece of this three-model lineup is HyperGrip Technology, which Oakley developed over two years alongside 15 professional athletes. Rather than incremental improvements to existing temple designs, the company reimagined how eyewear stays put during high-intensity movement. The Stunt Wing flagship model features what Oakley calls HyperGrip ULTRA — a flexible Unobtainium temple band that suspends the frame away from your head. This creates a weightless sensation while maintaining security through every sprint, pivot, and collision.
The engineering here is straightforward. Instead of relying on tight contact points that create pressure and eventually slip, the temple band distributes grip across a wider surface area. Combined with the full-coverage shield design and Prizm lens technology, you get enhanced peripheral vision without the typical trade-offs in stability.

Three Approaches to the Same Problem
While the Stunt Wing targets athletes who need maximum coverage, the Stunt Devil model takes a more refined approach. Still featuring the HyperGrip tech, its split temple tip draws inspiration from (and we’re not making this up) a frog’s foot. The high-friction Unobtanium webbing creates what Oakley describes as enhanced rotational stability, available in two sizes for smaller face profiles. Built-in retainer attachments provide backup security for those moments when even the best grip technology isn’t enough.
The Stunt Glider rounds out the collection as the prescription-compatible option, delivering the same retention capabilities as the Devil but with RX compatibility for athletes who can’t compromise on vision correction.
What’s particularly interesting is how Oakley addressed dilemma of choosing between lightweight comfort and secure fit. Traditional sports sunglasses achieve security through tension, which creates fatigue during extended wear. The Stunt Collection’s approach distributes that tension differently, maintaining grip without the typical pressure points.
