When you’re out on the trails, it’s always important to have the right gear. It’s especially important if you’re doing any serious activity out there, like running, as the wrong equipment can cause a nasty spill. The team (and runners themselves) at norda have taken the shoe game by storm, particularly with its rugged trail runners like the norda 001 that dropped in 2021. They also collaborated with Vibram in 2020 to create a custom platform built for trail runners, which was a big part of the 001’s success. Now, the team is back with the latest edition of the 001 runners: the norda 001 Regolith, with inspiration taken from the texture of the Earth and the wonder of the universe, and hand-painted midsoles to boot.
Each pair of these trail runners features a unique hand-painted midsole, and an upper made entirely of Bio-Based Dyneema fiber, a synthetic material that’s sourced from the byproducts of timber and pulp manufacturing. These are actually the very first seamless uppers made exclusively with Dyneema, including the laces. Inside, the norda Lock System keeps your feet stable and your stride steady, and the eTPU insole provides powerful energy return. The shoe has an exclusive Vibram midsole and soleplate, along with Megagrip Rubber. 5mm lugs. They’re hi-vis reflective all the way around, and sustainably made.
The norda 001 Regolith comes in at 268g, and much like the rest of norda’s offerings, each pair is stitched by hand. As a brand, norda is committed to sustainability, and the use of Bio-Based Dyneema fiber is the perfect example. It offers the lowest carbon footprint for every unit of strength compared to other performance fibers, and 75% of the energy that’s used in the manufacturing process comes from renewable sources.
The norda 001 Regolith shoes are available now for CAD 285 (around $212) in the colorway featured above.
