NEMO and L.L.Bean Team Up for the First Carbon-Neutral Tent

There are few outdoor purveyors who know the importance of spaciousness more than NEMO. The New Hampshire-based company’s selection of sleepers, such as the four-person WagonTop or the Chogori mountaineering tent, proves its expertise firsthand. Now, NEMO has partnered with its New England compatriots L.L.Bean to decrease its carbon footprint and reduce greenhouse emissions.

As the first carbon-neutral tent on the market, the Impact is deceptively roomy with steep sidewalls and a wide top. Foregoing harmful chemicals, the fly and main cabin panels are made from 100% recycled ripstop yarn, increasing the tear strength by 80% and all the while leading the way in water repellency. The mesh on the roof allows for a clear view of the night sky for stargazing, while the mesh on the entryways keeps the bugs out while providing temperature control and ventilation.

Not only is there plenty of living room on the inside, with two wide entryways and two vestibules for easy access and comfort, but there are plenty of pockets to store your gear and belongings inside and out. The removable gear tub on the outside is a great storage space for your shoes and umbrellas to keep them protected from the elements without their own elements getting inside your living space.

Displaying both NEMO and L.L.Bean’s insignias on the outside, the Impact sports a blue color, which resembles the sky, while the mountainous structure evokes memories of beauteous outings from our past and future. This backpacking tent, like all NEMO products, is backed by the brand’s lifetime warranty. It’s currently available on both companies’ websites from $300.
