One of our favorite names in the EDC sphere, especially when it comes to its superb automatic knives, Microtech has now dropped a limited-edition seven-piece culinary collection. Made right here in the USA, the company’s first-ever kitchen set follows right in line with their other blades in terms of reliability and construction, including the same Böhler M390MK steel that’s made Microtech a darling among tactical knife enthusiasts, paired with the company’s signature attention to fit and finish.

From Vero Beach Garage to Your Kitchen
The story here goes deeper than just product expansion. When Tony and Susan Marfione started Microtech in their Florida apartment back in 1994, they were chasing something most manufacturers had abandoned: the idea that American-made could mean both precision and innovation. Fast-forward thirty years, and that same ethos — the famous 0.001″ tolerances, the in-house machining, the obsessive quality control — is now being applied to tasks like julienning carrots and breaking down whole fish.
The timing feels right, too. While the tactical knife market has become increasingly saturated with imported alternatives, the culinary space is crying out for premium American-made options that carry over build construction from the folks who know a thing or two about EDC knives. Microtech seems to have found that sweet spot where their manufacturing capabilities can shine without the complexity of spring mechanisms and firing buttons.

Material Science Meets Meal Prep
The M390MK steel choice is where things get interesting from a technical standpoint. This won’t be the same carbon steel you’re used to with cutlery. It brings corrosion resistance and edge retention that should handle everything from acidic tomatoes to daily dishwasher cycles. The stonewash and DLC coating options add another layer of protection while giving users some aesthetic choice, though the stonewash feels more appropriate for kitchen duty where patina and character marks are part of the story.
Handle materials span the expected Microtech range: G-10 scales, carbon fiber, and their signature ULTEM polymer. Each comes with titanium bolster options for those who want the premium experience. The color palette (nine options including our favorites, Caribbean Blue and Ember) shows the same attention to personalization that’s made their tactical lines so collectible. Though honestly, in a working kitchen, the OD Green or black might be the most practical choices.

The Range
The blade profiles themselves show thoughtful consideration for actual kitchen tasks. The 6.125″ boning knife features the narrow spine you’ll need for working around joints and bones, while the 8″ chef’s knife sports proportions that should feel familiar to anyone who’s spent time with a Wüsthof or Henckels. The dual Santoku offerings (4.2″ and 6″) give options to those who are serious about kitchen prep, or who need to accommodate different hand sizes. The collection also features a 5″ utility knife, a 3.5″ paring knife, and a 4-piece steak knife set.
