Founded in 2021 by Alexander Lind (former co-founder of Radinn) along with entrepreneurs Anders Dellson and Mattias Soderhielm, the Swedish-American firm reimagines what electric propulsion can look like. Available in two configurations (a 6’3″ shortboard and a more stable 6’9″ midlength), the surfboard maintains the rail profile, rocker, and overall aesthetic surfers have revered for generations. Weighing just 15lbs without the drivetrain, it’s designed to be carried under one arm like a conventional shortboard, representing a fundamental departure from competitors that treat these battery-powered wave riders as simply a vessel for technology.

MODULAR INTELLIGENCE

Where the Canvas truly distinguishes itself is in its ingenious modular design that separates into three components: the board itself, the battery pack, and the jet propulsion unit. This approach offers numerous practical advantages beyond portability. 

The replaceable power cell provides impressive endurance, allowing riders to enjoy up to 45 minutes of continuous surfing before needing a recharge, which can take as little as 1 hour with a 230 to 240V charger. Assembly requires no tools and takes approximately 10-15 seconds, with components locking into the surfboard’s frame through an elegantly designed mechanism. Likewise, each board comes equipped with a sleek custom fin that magnetically slides into the jet assembly, allowing for drag-free surfing without the hassle of fin installation tools.

The charging process itself is remarkably efficient, requiring only an hour when connected to higher-voltage outlets or about two hours with standard household power. The jet drive utilizes a dual-motor system that propels riders at speeds up to 37mph. This is easily fast enough to mimic big wave conditions. To control the speed, the system connects to a wireless remote that allows for incremental power adjustment, perfect for both beginner and expert surfers.
