Fresh off the heels of the new miniature versions of ten modern-day Formula 1 cars that LEGO debuted a couple of weeks ago as part of the 75th anniversary of the international racing competition, the Danish toy brand has now built a larger-scale Technic version of the Ferrari SF-24 F1 competing this year. This is just the second Technic version of those miniaturized sets unveiled following the Oracle Red Bull Racing RB20 F1 Car.
LEGO, But More
Blurring the line between scale models and real-life mechanics, the LEGO Technic line was one of the first forms of immersive brick building upon its debut over 45 years ago. This was long before you needed to be highly skilled and nimble in order to put together even the most sophisticated LEGO set. Designed for expert builders, the Technic sets take things to the next level with working parts, gears, and general mechanics, often in the form of automobiles.
LEGO Technic Ferrari SF-24 F1 Basics
While the miniature Ferrari SF-24 F1 is an 8-inch model featuring 275 pieces, this new Technics set is no joke. Designed for builders 18 years or older, the kit boasts 1,361 pieces in total and costs $200 more. With a scale of 1:8, the set stretches 24” in length when completed.
This isn’t your average LEGO car model either. Like other Technic sets, the Ferrari has “true-to-life features” such as steering with a 2-speed gearbox, a suspension, printed tires, and an adjustable spoiler. The livery even features the Shell branding. You can take off the engine cover, under which rests a V6 engine with a spinning MGU-H.

With five victories during the 2024 F1 season, the Ferrari SF-24 will be available in its LEGO Technic glory for $230 but won’t arrive (like the other F1 sets) until March 1, 2025. You can now pre-order the set from LEGO’s website.
