Founded by Mike St. Pierre in 2010, Hyperlite Mountain Gear is an elite outdoor gear brand that’s built an impressive reputation on the back of its ultra-rugged yet lightweight Dyneema construction tents, packs, and sleep systems. Doubling down on these traits, Hyperlite has now unveiled its latest piece of outdoor kit with its all-new Mid 1 tent.
Touted by Hyperlite as being the brand’s ultimate take on an ultralight, three-season backcountry shelter for solo backpackers, the Mid 1 measures 32″ wide, 96” in length, and 54” tall — ultimately affording more than 20 square feet of living space. What’s more, when packed, the Mid 1 breaks down to an ultra-compact and lightweight 9” x 7” x 7” form that tips the scales at only 1.05lbs, too, making it approximately half the weight of other solo backpacking tents. The tent itself is constructed from American-made, 100% waterproof Dyneema composite. This cutting-edge construction has been mated to a 6″ DCF10 bathtub floor with multiple adjustment points, as well as an apex cone that’s been reinforced with DCH50.
Erected around a single .75oz trekking pole made from lightweight yet rugged carbon fiber, the tent also comes loaded with numerous interchangeable vestibule door tie-out points complemented by an additional half dozen perimeter tie-outs with DCF11-reinforced line locs, two rear mid-panel tie-outs, a pair of side mid-panel tie outs, and a single apex tie-out. Taking lessons learned from developing and field testing the brand’s UltraMid 2 and 4 models, the tent also features a No-See-Um crescent mesh door with dual #3 YKK zippers and a vestibule door equipped with #3 YKK AquaGuard zippers with magnetic door-keepers.
