HOKA ONE ONE has become one of the performance world’s predominant shoemakers, and its long line of Clifton running shoes is one of several reasons why. Now, the French brand is taking a turn for the technical with its PROJECT CLIFTON trail running shoe.

While the new silhouette is mainly based around the brand’s Clifton 8 shoe, the most recent in its line, several elements distinguish this upcoming release from the classic pair of trail runners. For example, HOKA implements a set of 5D-printed uppers with chic, wave-adjacent cutouts — yes, from a glance, these look oddly similar to the motif that appears on Salomon’s ubiquitous XT-6, but who’s to say that’s what HOKA was going for. For durability’s sake, the shoe is equipped with AquaGuard zippers for maximum elemental protection.

In addition to these new designs that make up the PROJECT CLIFTON, the shoe sits on a set of plush, thick compression EVA midsoles, deeming it undeniably comfortable enough for anything from a standard stroll through the city to a backcountry running session. For optimal convenience, the all-terrain kicks have an extended pull tab and quick lace system for seamless on/off adjustments.

The forthcoming pair of trainers will be available starting December 15 on the brand’s webshop for ¥31,900 (~$233).
