Haven’s Safari Hammock Tent Is Perfect for Outdoor Lounging in Style

When Haven launched its first Kickstarter campaign back in 2019 for the Haven Tent, the start-up’s mission was to make a hammock tent that would prioritize compactness and convenience over the hassle of your typical bulky sleeper. After offering the Haven Tent XL the following year, the Utah-based company is now raising money for its latest product, the more luxurious Haven Safari.

While the standard Haven Tent is better for backpacking, the Haven Safari is more suitable for casual camping outings or even your own backyard escape. The idea for this single-person sleeper is to make you feel like you’ve packed up your very mattress from home and rolled it out on your outdoor trip. The soft, vegan suede-coated inflatable mattress is built for comfort and quietude. When you’re lying flat, the sturdy structure prevents you from bending or folding. Alternatively, the attached lounging strap, which can be adjusted from inside the tent itself, enables you to prop up your back into a lounging position.

The Haven Safari is perfect for any time of year. Made from 300d Polyester Canvas, the tent is waterproof, ventilated, and comes with a built-in bug net for protection against pests, while the inside contains six large pockets to stow a variety of personal accessories. The easy setup of the hammock tent itself ensures that you won’t begrudge the process, just as the excitement of sleeping in the Haven Safari will prevent you from procrastinating in the first place.

Even if you’re not near any trees, the Haven Safari can be used as a ground bivy as well, with enough unique features to still make this an upgrade from your everyday tent. Available in up to four colors for project backers, the hammock tent also invites the use of several add-ons, including a PowerPump — which doubles as a charger — a ridgelight, and tree strap extensions, all sold separately. The Kickstarter campaign runs through April 30th with prices from $270 and an array of perks offered for backers.
