Everyday Carry: Manners

It’s been said many a time that everyday carry is much more than a collection of tools you may or may not use on a daily basis. These are not simply knives, watches, wallets, keychains, and the like; they’re also style accessories and function as a reflection of the values of the user. For instance, while not impossible, it would seem very out-of-sorts to find that a lawyer in NYC carries a tactical folding knife with a camouflage colorway on its handle. Similarly, a backwoods hunter probably isn’t going to don a Rolex while up in a blind. In the case of this week’s everyday carry loadout, we wanted to highlight the more refined end of the spectrum, while still illustrating that your gear can be both gentlemanly and still tough, durable, and useful. And yes, we did find inspiration in the quote from Matthew Vaughn’s super-spy movie Kingsman: “Manners maketh man.”

Bellroy Hide & Seek Wallet

While the name might seem cheeky, there’s a real reason the folks at Bellroy called this wallet the Hide & Seek. You see, from an outside perspective, this looks like a fairly run-of-the-mill, if quite elegant take on a 12-card leather bifold. However, there’s also a hidden pocket on the inside to keep anything you want away from prying eyes. This isn’t a traditional wallet — it is so much better.

Deakin & Francis Kingsman Key Fob

Keys are easy to lose, even at the bottom of a bag or pocket. But one of the ways you can make them easier to find and retrieve is by attaching a keychain or key fob like the one you see here. On top of the convenience, the rose gold-plated brass ring and icon paired with black leather help to elevate your carry with an added touch of class.

Terrain 365 Otter Slipjoint Knife

Terrain 365 is a young company, but they’ve already made a hell of a reputation for themselves by producing some of the toughest, most durable knives around. And while much of their collection plays in the tactical realm, they’re definitely not without an eye for style and design, as evidenced by their Otter Slipjoint. Along with the clean lines of this gentleman’s knife, it also boasts a Terravantium dendritic cobalt blade (the brand’s signature corrosion-proof material) and G10 handle scales with titanium liners.
