Danner’s Reimagined Jag Boot Offers a Cold-Weather Take on a Classic

Danner is just one of those American-bred names that is far too easy to hold with regard, as has been the case for decades. Back in the ’80s, the brand — which was already in its 50s by then — debuted its iconic Jag silhouette. Now, more than three decades later, Danner has unveiled the Jag Quilt, a redesigned pair that combines the classic look with new-age comfort and cold-weather readiness.

Crafted from suede leather and quilted panels of abrasion-resistant nylon, the Jag Quilt’s upper is a perfect starting point for the rest of the boot’s fusion of longevity and style. The newly-designed set of stompers feature 200G of PrimaLoft Gold Insulation, providing world-class levels of warmth no matter where you find yourself out on the trail. Albeit strong, the Jag Quilts sit on a lightweight EVA midsole, ensuring a pair that will not wear your feet out in the slightest at a mere 18oz per boot. Each pair also comes equipped with a removable OrthoLite Footbed providing three separate layers of varying density for the sake of providing maximum cushioning and support. The fully-waterproof Danner Dry barrier lets moisture out without letting water in, while the waffle outsole is pure retro Danner.

As per usual, the Jag Quilt is backed by Danner’s year-long warranty, but it’s safe to assume that won’t be necessary. Available in a duet of colors, the iconic Jag Boot’s new look is surely something to write home about. The new-and-improved rendition can be found on Danner’s site for $180.
