There’s something to be said for a knife that stops people mid-conversation. While most EDC blades blend into the background of your pocket gear, CRKT’s latest Facet Flipper demands attention with an iridescent titanium nitride coating that shifts between blues, purples, and greens like oil on pavement. Working with legendary designer Ken Onion, the Oregon-based brand has also paired that rainbow finish with 110-layer Damascus steel, creating what might be their most compelling release of 2025.

Minimalist Vision Gets Maximum Impact

Known for pioneering Kershaw’s SpeedSafe mechanism and earning a spot in the Cutlery Hall of Fame before age 45, Onion has always balanced innovation with elegance. His original Facet design from the early 2020s stripped away unnecessary elements, focusing on clean lines and beautiful geometry. This iridescent version maintains that same approach while adding visual complexity.

The reverse tanto blade shape remains unchanged — and why mess with perfection? That angled spine delivers chisel-like tip strength for piercing tasks while preserving the cutting performance of a traditional blade profile. At 3.38″, it hits the sweet spot for daily carry.

Stunning Visuals All Around

For this release, CRKT sourced 110-layer Damascus steel, creating those distinctive flowing patterns that make each blade unique. The layered construction process enhances both edge retention and toughness compared to standard steels. The acid-etched finish accentuates those rippling lines, pairing beautifully with the handle’s rainbow coating.

The titanium construction drops weight to just 2.9oz, making this the lightest Facet variant yet. That titanium nitride treatment adds surface hardness and corrosion resistance while creating that eye-catching iridescent effect. CRKT includes a matching rainbow fob and bead, which feels appropriately playful without going overboard.

Familiar Function, Fresh Presentation

Deployment remains smooth courtesy of the IKBS ball bearing pivot system, while the frame lock provides secure blade lockup. The deep-carry clip keeps things discrete despite the flashy handle treatment. These are proven mechanisms that CRKT has refined over decades — sometimes the best innovation is knowing what not to change.

For those who want the iridescent handle without paying a premium, CRKT also has a 12C27 stainless steel blade option for a third of the price. These are part of a larger Iridescent Collection that also features a pry bar and Hangti Fixed Blade.
