Carhartt’s X-1 Smart Heated Vest Uses AI Tech to Adjust to Your Body Temp

Delineating the different types of insulation and inner linings on jackets is one thing, but that doesn’t solve the problem of overheating when the weather changes or your activities get more intense. What if you could control the precise temperature of your outer layer so that, regardless of external conditions or your own body’s regulation, you can be comfortable without having to swap one garment for another?

Enter Carhartt’s X-1 Smart Heated Vest, which adapts to your own body’s temperature using clim8 technology and three heating zones (two on the chest and one on the back). You can select your desired temperature on the phone app which is sent to the vest via Bluetooth. Built with a 100% CORDURA nylon shell, the vest then adjusts accordingly by analyzing your body temperature and that of your environment.

Last year, clim8 entered the U.S. market for the first time on a pair of gloves from Eddie Bauer. Now, we get to see the tech utilized in a new way entirely. Without the constricting nature of a sleeved jacket, the X-1 vest keeps you warm where it counts, and without all the extra bulk.

Available in both men’s and women’s sizes, the X-1 Smart Heated Vest is available now from Carhartt’s website for $220.
