Burton’s Second Collaboration with Virgil Abloh Has Hit the Auction Market

The late Virgil Abloh’s impact on the world of design in its entirety was virtually unmatched over the last few years of his life. Through numerous coveted collaborations, the late designer’s name is etched in contemporary fashion’s history, though he managed to leave his mark along countless other walks of life, too. Recently, Burton unveiled its second capsule that had come to fruition before Abloh’s recent passing, and the snowboarding brand looks to embrace his spirit every step of the way.

In the initial partnership between these two big names, Abloh sought to design women’s outerwear that helped shed a light on female athletes. However, the world-famous designer reconnected with the Vermont-based manufacturer last year, looking to design some new gear. Garnering inspiration from a manifesto he’d written that encapsulates the joint effort’s ethos, Abloh went on to design a unique new capsule.

Kicking off this posthumous collection are the Burton c/o Virgil Abloh “Manifesto” snowboards that have gone up for a 48-hour auction. All proceeds from this will be donated to the Abloh Post-Modern Scholarship Fund, which aims to support young Black leaders in fashion. In addition to this board, there are a handful of others that are set to hit the market via raffle, including a pair of camouflage-clad options and one with an eerie, Grim Reaper-adjacent embellishment. The collaboration is rounded out with pairs of boots and bindings that will be available to purchase alongside these snowboards.

Burton has also announced that it will be donating $300,000 over the next three years in efforts to increase BIPOC representation in snowboarding. As socially cognizant as they come, Burton’s mission is clear, and its adherence to what Virgil Abloh looked to deliver himself remains entirely authentic. If you’re interested in placing a bid on one of the Manifesto snowboards, they are currently starting from $6,300. Otherwise, the remainder of the collaboration will be available starting March 22nd.

Pruchase: $6,300+
