Böker’s Fan-Favorite BRLW Meteorite Damast EDC Knife Gets the Platinum Treatment

Considering they’re among the oldest knifemakers in the world, with roots dating back to the 17th century (the company as we know it today was officially re-launched in 1869), it should surprise you how Böker has continued to keep things fresh and evolve with the times. Looking at some of its knives, you’d never guess that it was a heritage brand.

Last year, the German knifemaker released a $567 Barlow-based model built with a Damascus blade that combined iron meteorite with carbon steel. Now, the knife has gotten a new special-edition with platinum coating and a price tag that’s $200 more expensive.

Cosmic Upgrade

The original BRLW Meteorite Damast was already one of Böker’s most spectacular releases in recent memory, but the Platinum Edition takes things further. The 2.56-inch clip-point blade still features Chad Nichols’ hand-forged meteorite Damascus — that same striking Mosaic Crossed pattern combining authentic iron meteorite with carbon steel — but this time around it’s finished with platinum. Beyond the aesthetic enhancement, with the platinum brightening the blade and adding depth to the cosmic patterns, the coating also provides increased resistance to wear and corrosion. Not bad for a knife that already starts with space rock.

The rest of the knife remains largely unchanged from the original, which is perfectly fine because there wasn’t much to improve. The titanium framelock handle retains its precision-machined meteorite-inspired texture that not only looks incredible but gives it a functional grip. Following the classic Barlow silhouette, the elongated front bolster transitions into the irregular cosmic texture at the rear.

Built for Carry (and Display)

Böker equipped the Platinum Edition with all the practical touches you’d expect from a modern EDC folder. The low-profile flipper tab disappears completely when the blade is open, while the integrated framelock includes a hardened lockbar insert for reliable security. The titanium pocket clip offers tip-up, right-hand carry, and there’s a lanyard hole for those who prefer alternative carrying methods. You still have the Böker tree emblem on the pivot screw.

The knife comes in a premium display case with a certificate of authenticity and individual serial number. At 2.57oz and just over 6″ open, it’s a perfectly sized EDC knife — though at this price point and with these materials, you might be tempted to keep it in that display case more often than your pocket.
