Durability is vital to everyday carry gear, and the California-based Black Ember knows that as well as anyone. The brand has a habit of garnering awards for their gear, and they look poised to do so again with the new Kompak Crossbody Bag that utilizes their signature BOND-STITCH construction.
Already one of the first brands to integrate Cordura’s new 100%-recycled ECO Nylon into their products, Black Ember is taking the next step by making the Kompak one of the world’s first to be made entirely from the rugged sustainable material. The bag offers padded elastic pockets seamed to fit an iPad Mini, as well as a phone pocket with a charger-bonded pass-through, so you’ll never have to worry about misplacing or forgetting your Lightning cable, USB-C, or any other cord. On top of that, the bag’s interior is equipped with enough space to hold a camera, a thermos, a pair of headphones, and everything else your pockets simply weren’t meant to carry. With dimensions of 9″ x 6.5″ x 5″ and aluminum-plated spring hook hardware, this crossbody is as compact as it is sturdy. While this desirable new crossbody is a highlight of Black Ember’s new Kompak collection, the series also includes other solid pieces of EDC including a wallet, keychain, and key-leash, all of which are magnetic and make for a hand-in-glove fit with the capsule’s bag.
Although the brand’s environmental cognizance provides more than enough reason to support them, their top-tier gear only manages to put Black Ember over the top. Those interested can pledge $99 to Black Ember’s latest Kickstarter campaign to snag a Kompak Crossbody for themselves, or $139 to receive the entire Kompak Collection set, with shipping expected this coming February.
