With the summer season on the horizon, you can expect to keep hearing about the new releases from your favorite travel brands. But this latest announcement comes from a name we didn’t expect.
Already one of our favorite everyday carry purveyors for their intuitively-designed wallets and tech cases, Bellroy has entered into the wheeled luggage space with a trio of new bags. And best of all, you can replace their parts if they break.

More Than Just Another Pretty Case
Fans of Bellroy may already be familiar with the company’s backpacks and slings, and the rolling suitcases are not too far off, aesthetically at least.
An extension of the Transit line, the new luggage lineup consists of three distinct models: the Transit Carry-On, Transit Carry-On Plus, and the Lite Carry-On. While the first two feature hard-shell construction, the latter opts for a flexible, lightweight soft shell. Luckily, all three pieces maintain Bellroy’s signature minimalism but they’re far from copycats of the existing suitcases found patrolling terminals already.
Specifically sized for global airline compliance, the standard Transit Carry-On holds 34L inside, while its larger sibling, the 39-liter Transit Carry-On Plus, offers extra packing space, even if it might not be fit for the overhead compartment. Potential “Carry-On” misnomer aside, the Plus is just $30 more than the non-Plus version, which isn’t a bad deal for significantly more room for stuffing your travel gear.
Zipping up with water-resistant YKK Racquet Coil zippers, both bags feature hard-wearing matte polycarbonate shells (utilizing 80% post-consumer recycled materials) that come in black, Chalk, Everglade, and Bronze. You’ll also get premium HINOMOTO Lisof Silent Run wheels underneath that feature some rubber polymer to add impact resistance and an extra bounce in your roll.
For the adjustable telescopic handle, Bellroy opted to engineer it from the ground-up to get exactly what they wanted instead of simply going for a manufactured option like other companies might do. There are three height settings, the heights will differ slightly between the two models.

Pack Smarter, Not Harder
Eschewing a traditional compression panel or strap system inside, Bellroy includes a pair of purpose-built packing cubes instead. These will fit the respective dimensions of your Transit Carry-On bags, which will limit their use elsewhere but also eliminate any guesswork that comes with your organization when packing. Other interior pockets are included too, like a large drop-in compartment, featuring a top-sided zipper, intentionally placed for easy access and so as to not disrupt your packing layout.
For those working on the road, there’s also a flat sleeve in the center of the bag designed for a laptop or tablet, serving as a divider between both sections of the suitcase. However, Bellroy has stated that, while you’ll get some protection due to the orientation of this sleeve, you should consider putting your laptop in a designated bag instead.

Softer and Lighter
While the two hard-shelled bags weigh around 7lbs each, the Lite Carry-On clocks in at just under 5lbs, which makes a difference during a long and grueling trip. Looking just like the brand’s Lite Travel Pack, the soft-shelled suitcase employs Bellroy’s own Lite Dura Nylon, available in either black, Ash, or Clay, so that the 38-liter bag is still incredibly durable. The front of the bag features a quick-access pocket that’s small enough that you won’t have to do too much digging when looking for your passport or e-reader.
Underneath, you’ll find TPU wheels inspired by rollerblades and with a bit larger circumference since there are just 2 instead of 4. For more control in the terminal, the bags are designed to be tipped when rolled rather than spun.

Fix Don’t Replace
Perhaps the most impressive aspect of Bellroy’s luggage debut is the ability to fix the bags rather than having to spend hundreds of dollars every few years for a replacement. Each bag is equipped with replaceable components like wheels, handles, locks, and packing cells. Through the brand’s Fix-It Kit program, users can order replacement parts directly from Bellroy, significantly extending the lifespan of their luggage past the 10-year threshold that’s already promised. Each year, more and more companies seem to be getting on this “reparable gear” bandwagon, which is certainly a good thing.
