Technical outfitter and wander is no stranger to designing high-end outdoor gear and accessories that are built to last. Sure, many of its pieces are intended to suit you well in metropolitan areas, but its new seasonal Camp collection ventures out of the city and into the wilderness.
The capsule features collaborations with several of our favorite outdoor brands, starting with Murano, a fellow Japanese manufacturer who assisted in building a pair of Good Design Award-winning tents constructed of water-resistant 1500mm nylon, as well as a co-branded spin on its famous Boston duffle bag. Next up is a joint effort with NANGA, who delivers a water-resistant sleeping bag constructed of Spanish Duck Down that’s washed in Japan and boasts an enviously warm 770 fill-power. Lastly, the least surprising partnership of all comes courtesy of Helinox, who joins in on the fun to construct a set of folding chairs and a matching cot.
While the brand’s catalog of garments and accessories tends to serve as one of the many bridges between streetwear and the great outdoors, this new hiking collection delivers much of the sand adventurous ethos in a brand-new light. As one of the archetypal names at the helm of the whole GORP trend, it’s beyond refreshing to know and wander does more than pump out hiking boots for people to wear on city sidewalks as a fashion statement. Please don’t be mistaken, we don’t have qualms with people who do this, but it’s just good to see the Japanese brand highlight function over form with this collection of legitimately utilitarian gear.
