adidas TERREX’s GORE-TEX-coated iteration Swift R3 offers just about everything one could look for in a pair of hiking shoes. So much, in fact, the only way to make this silhouette even more appropriate for outdoor adventure is through a new collab with National Geographic, as the eco-driven foundation has managed to give the design a surprisingly stylish makeover.
Taking after the original offering’s construction, these weather-ready hikers are placed atop a trusty rubber outsole courtesy of Continental, deeming them ideal for any terrain you walk on. On top of that, its GORE-TEX lining promotes enhanced water protection across the board while remaining comfortably breathable. Additionally, they feature a molded sockliner and EVA midsole to keep things light and walkable. As far as embellishments go, the Mother Nature-approved collab is doused in shades of light blue, yellow, and white, then finished with a tab on the tongue to acknowledge the joint effort.
To no surprise, this brand new take on the shoe highlights both adidas and Nat Geo’s strive for sustainability, as the latter has made abundantly clear through the years. That said, adidas’ use of over 50% recycled materials plays just as integral of a role in doing so, serving as another element of its overarching solution to end plastic waste. On top of the re-designed shoes, the two have churned out a wide array of co-branded pieces of clothing and outerwear, including a polished take on TERREX’s prevalent RAIN.RDY jacket, further adding to its already endless variety of colors.
While this new spin on the Swift R3 isn’t officially available in the states, and no release details have been put forth by either adidas or Nat Geo, you can get a better look at it on other regional adidas sites.
