Whether you’re fond of NFTs or not, it doesn’t matter, because it seems as though they are here to stay. From moguls to marketers, there is no shortage of companies aiming to own a slice of the Metaverse, and the New York-bred horologists over at Bulova are no exception. In collaboration with D-CAVE, an online marketplace tailored toward this brand of digital living, the century-and-a-half-year-old watchmaker has dipped its toe into the world of NFTs, all the while keeping things traditional, with both a physical and non-fungible version of the Computron watch.
The new physical rendition of Bulova’s iconic LED-powered timepiece is highlighted by an unabashed sense of futurism, featuring luminous green details and a black IP stainless steel case, which is then rounded out with a black silicone strap. Sticking with this theme, the time is shown in a neon green font. While the original Computron may have hit the market in the 1970s, the latest take on this watch could arguably pass for one directly from the 2070s.
As far as the striking Computron D-Cave Special Edition is concerned, this timepiece will be available to wear in Decentraland, a virtual world platform, while 1,000 physical versions will be made exclusive to purchasers of the related NFT. It boasts a transparent mineral case top that displays the watch’s circuit board and boasts details inspired by computer towers. It’s clear that each of these unique timepieces is inspired by gaming culture and science-fiction, and thanks to their stark combination of black and green, we get some serious original Xbox meets The Matrix vibes.
If you’re interested in getting your hands on the futuristic, physical accessory, find the Computron D-CAVE on Bulova’s website for $450. However, if it’s the Special Edition that caught your eye, you’ll have to keep your eyes on D-Cave for opportunities to purchase its NFT.
