The Arc’Teryx Vertex Is a Highly-Technical, All-Season Alpine Trail Running Shoe

Despite its alpinist mountaineering heritage, Arc’Teryx has steadily expanded its product lineup over the last thirty-odd years to include a wide variety of different outdoor-focused garments, bags, and gear. And after debuting its first-ever trail running shoe — the Norvan VT — back in 2016, Arc has now returned to the segment to deliver its most high-performance trail-runner to date with the all-new Vertex model.

Engineered from the ground up to lend confidence, traction, and support across a myriad of conditions, the Vertex Shoe features a set of single-layer 100% recycled PFC-free polyester mesh uppers with integrated knit collars — both of which are breathable, temperature regulating, and equipped with a special moisture management system. Also developed with a major focus on freedom of movement, these trail running shoes are further fortified via a mid to forefoot TPU rock plate, a 0.7mm forefoot TPU film, a full 360-degree rand, and a welded support zone.

Arc’Teryx’s Vertex Shoe is also built atop a pair of ultra-grippy Vibram Megagrip outsoles that boast a deep 4mm lug pattern. The bottom of the shoe has also been bestowed with a forefoot friction zone that further enhances traction, even in wet or slippery terrains. Inside, the shoe features a 0.8mm microfiber heel lining, a 4mm recycled EVA liner, and a compressed EVA and Polyolefin blend midsole. A set of heel-pull tabs and a low-profile lacing system complete this highly technical package.
