Travis Pastrana Finally Reveals the Full Specs on His Next Gymkhana Car

Back in January, the HOONIGAN crew gave the world a sneak peek at the one-off vehicle that MX and SX legend Travis Pastrana will be piloting in his next Gymkhana video – a heavily modified, widebody 1983 Subaru GL Wagon. Fast forward to today and Pastrana and the HOONIGAN team have now fully revealed this one-of-one wonder.

Dubbed the “Family Huckster” — a nod to the notorious Family Truckster wagon from National Lampoon’s Vacation — Pastrana’s latest Gymkhana car is powered by an 862-hp turbocharged four-cylinder Subaru BOXER engine that’s been paired with an all-wheel-drive system and a sequential six-speed transmission. The Subaru’s stock suspension and wheels have also been jettisoned in favor of a long-travel World Rally Championship-spec setup and a bespoke set of ‘80s-inspired eight-spoke forged monobloc KMC wheels.

The build’s state-of-the-art tubular space frame has been adorned in a custom carbon fiber widebody kit with an ultra-advanced active aero kit. This includes an electro-pneumatically-controlled rear wing, front and rear hydraulic aero fender flaps, and a functional carbon-fiber roof rack that funnels air to the rear-mounted radiator via a roof-mounted NACA duct. The interior of the car has also been completely reworked, and is now fully race-gutted and equipped with a custom race seat, a custom blue carbon fiber dash, an authentic radio from a previous 1983 GL wagon, and a retro-inspired 12” digital instrumentation cluster modeled after 1980s displays.

The Family Huckster will make its competition debut at the upcoming Goodwood Festival Of Speed, where Pastrana will be competing for Subaru Motorsports USA. The car will also be the hero vehicle for Pastrana’s next Gymkhana YouTube video installment.
