We’ve been tracking the PRX’s evolution since Tissot revived the 1978 design back in 2020, and this is the first time the brand has done something that feels less like iteration and more like reinvention. The new 38mm PRX Powermatic 80 arrives in two intriguing materials: titanium and Damascus steel. Both represent firsts for the collection, and both address the one thing the PRX has always struggled with — finding that perfect middle ground between the chunky 40mm and the dainty 35mm.

The Goldilocks Size
With non-articulated first links, the lug-to-lug on the 40mm PRX always wore larger than you’d expect. The 35mm version swung too far in the opposite direction. This 38mm case, at 10.98mm thick, finally nails the proportions. It’ll be wearable for just about anyone while maintaining the visual presence that made the PRX successful in the first place.

Titanium Done Right
The titanium editions come in two dial options: a deep blue with nickeled hands and indices, and an anthracite variant with rose-gold accents that create a monochromatic aesthetic. At just under 3oz on the full titanium bracelet, these watches shed considerable weight compared to their steel counterparts without sacrificing the integrated bracelet’s signature three-row construction. The darker tone of titanium brings a subtle shift in character that’s less flashy and more contemporary.

Damascus Takes Center Stage
The Damascus steel version is decidedly the more notable of the two, simply because its material is nearly unheard of in the watch world. Both the case and dial are crafted from Damascus stainless steel, showcasing those distinctive wave patterns that EDC enthusiasts love to see in their pocket knives. It’s a bold move for an entry-level Swiss brand, and the execution is impressive. Each piece is unique with swirling motifs that catch light from every angle, while black-nickeled indexes and a bold black seconds hand round out the quasi-monochrome look. You’ll also get an integrated black leather strap affixed to the case.

What’s Inside
Both variants house the familiar Powermatic 80 automatic movement, boasting a 21,600 vph frequency, 80 hours of power reserve, and a Nivachron balance spring for antimagnetic protection. The sapphire caseback displays the movement, and quick-release pins on both bracelet and strap make swapping easy. Water resistance holds at 100m across the board.

Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 Titanium & Damascus Steel
Tissot finally nailed the PRX’s sizing sweet spot with a new 38mm case that splits the difference between the too-large 40mm and too-small 35mm versions. The real news is the material upgrade — titanium models that shed serious weight while keeping the integrated bracelet, plus a Damascus steel variant that’s highly unique with its swirling patterns on both case and dial.
