Seiko and Rowing Blazers Bring Back Their Beloved Checkerboard Rally Diver For Summer

Back in 2021, Rowing Blazers and vintage watch dealer Eric Wind teamed up with Seiko on a checkered-bezel Rally Diver that vanished the moment it went on sale. Follow-up collections came in 2022 and 2023, then the trio went dark.

Now, three years later, they’ve come back around to the watch people actually wanted more of in the first place. The Rally Diver is back on the menu, this time in two colors and, mercifully, two sizes.

Blame Eric Wind

Wind spends his days dealing six-figure vintage pieces through Wind Vintage, but his origin story starts with a humble Seiko. The first vintage watch he ever bought was a 1969 Seiko 5 Sports Rally Diver, and the 2021 collab was a direct tribute to that very watch.

That original run was capped at a mere 500 pieces, and good luck finding one at retail since. So the 2,500-per-reference count this time around feels a bit less like generosity and perhaps more like a course correction.

Checkerboard, Two Ways

The blue-dialed SRPM19 carries over the original’s 42.5mm case, while the racing green SRPM21 shrinks things down to a far friendlier 38mm. Want the blue in the smaller case? Sorry, green only.

Both wear checkered aluminum bezel inserts matched to their dials, warm vintage-toned LumiBrite on the hands and indices, and a red-and-white striped seconds hand that sells the whole motorsport bit. Seiko’s signature 4 o’clock crown is here too, now engraved with the Rowing Blazers monogram, along with a day-date window that toggles between English and Spanish.

There’s a Faucet on the Caseback

Flip either watch over and you’ll find the collab’s best inside joke: Rowing Blazers’ “Bath Club” motif, a gold dripping faucet printed across the exhibition glass alongside the Wind Vintage wordmark. Behind it ticks Seiko’s workhorse 4R36 automatic with 41 hours of power reserve.

Each watch ships on a steel bracelet with a bonus nylon strap in the opposite color; the blue gets green, the green gets blue. It’s a small touch, but it’s precisely the kind of prep-school color clash Rowing Blazers built its whole identity on. And with 100m of water resistance, these are legitimate summer beaters.
