As Porsche pulled the cover of its highly-anticipated 911 Dakar off-road production car today — and exceeded expectations in the process — the German marque’s design label, Porsche Design unveiled a new watch, the Chronograph 1 911 Dakar.

If the watch weren’t already special enough for its aesthetic brilliance and Porsche design cues, it also stakes the claim of having the first chronograph case made entirely of titanium carbide. In a space where titanium is a reigning champ in lightness, Porsche Design takes it one step further with this patented new state-of-the-art material which weighs even less and has the added benefit of being scratch-resistant and hypoallergenic. The brand has said it will employ titanium carbide for many of its chrono models going forward.

Two versions of the new Chronograph 1 are available: the 911 Dakar and the 911 Dakar Rallye Design editions, which look nearly identical except the latter sports the new car’s rally stripe color scheme on one of its totalizers. Likewise, configuration options include different color winding rotors on the back.

Just like the new vehicles, these watches are limited to 2,500 pieces each and can only be purchased by owners of the respective Porsches. They’re priced at $14,500.
