Every watch brand has that one color its fans just can’t get enough of, and for Oris loyalists, that color might be oxblood. The deep, wine-dark red has been making cameos across the Big Crown catalog for years, always on the vintage-styled models, and always to a warm reception. So when the brand’s modernized 40mm line needed its next dial, the answer was practically sitting in the cellar. Meet the new Oris Big Crown Pointer Date Oxblood.

Oxblood Runs in the Family
Oris first splashed this shade across the classic coin-edge Big Crown Pointer Date back in 2019, and the moody red slowly grew into one of the most loved dials in the lineup. A bronze-cased limited edition followed in 2020 wearing the same hue.

Hell, even last month’s Cervo Volante collab leaned into a deep red gradient. Point being, Oris knows this color sells.
The one place it hadn’t landed yet was the brand’s contemporary Big Crown line. Well, that finally changes today.

The Modern Big Crown Gets Its Best Shade Yet
Oris overhauled the 40mm Pointer Date at Watches & Wonders 2025 (we covered the launch), swapping the fluted bezel and cathedral hands for a smooth polished bezel, a clean pencil handset, an arrow-tipped pointer, and a sporty H-link bracelet.
The new oxblood dial might be the strongest argument yet for that redesign. Applied Arabic numerals packed with Super-LumiNova pop against the deep red, while the signature pointer hand sweeps the 31-date scale around the dial’s edge, its bright red arrow tip standing out against the white track.
At 40mm across, 12mm thick, and 47.5mm lug-to-lug with 50 meters of water resistance, it wears like the everyday sports watch Oris intended.

Sellita Power Keeps It Honest
Flip it over and the see-through caseback reveals the Calibre 754, a Sellita SW200-1-based automatic beating at 28,800 vph with 41 hours of reserve and an instantaneous date jump, all topped by Oris’s signature red rotor.
Sure, the in-house Calibre 403 version of this watch packs a 5-day reserve, but it’ll also run you $4,500 on the bracelet. At nearly half that, the 754-powered Oxblood is the one most of us should actually buy.
