Oris has been perfecting the art of the dive watch for nearly 60 years now, and about a decade ago debuted its ever-popular Aquis automatic timepiece, a more accessible diver for any occasion that’s been a big hit with enthusiasts. Then in 2020, the brand debuted the outstanding Aquis Date Calibre 400 featuring a state-of-the-art in-house movement that set a new standard with its 5-day power reserve and high resistance to magnetic fields. The Swiss watchmaker has always strived for innovation not just with its mechanics, but aesthetically as well.
This month, Oris adds touches of solid gold to the Aquis Date Calibre 400 for an even classier look than the Aquis line is already known for. Available in both blue and green colorways, the new variant is given an 18K gold finish to the outer edge of its unidirectional ceramic bezel, as well as to the bezel’s minutes scale. The hands and indices, which are already lumed with Super-LumiNova, are bordered with gold also.
Sporting a date window at the 6 o’clock position, the 41.5mm stainless steel case of the gold Aquis remains water-resistant to 300m and houses the acclaimed Calibre 400 automatic movement, which can be seen through the display caseback and is accurate to within -3/+5 seconds per day. The watch comes with a three-link integrated stainless steel bracelet with a security folding clasp or an integrated rubber strap option that matches the color of the respective dial.
Just like all the Calibre 400 pieces, this watch comes with a 10-year warranty, showing Oris’ confidence in its new engine. The Aquis Gold is now available via Oris’ website for $4,400 for the rubber strap version and $4,600 on the bracelet.
