Omega’s Gradient Turquoise Aqua Terra Just Got Sportier With a Black Ceramic Bezel

After Omega’s gradient turquoise dial made its debut late last year in the Aqua Terra “Shades” collection, the Swiss manufacturer is back with a refined version of the Seamaster diver that swaps the steel bezel for brushed black ceramic and ditches the bracelet for an integrated rubber strap. It’s a small evolution that makes a big difference.

A Word on the Aqua Terra

The Aqua Terra has always been Omega’s version of the everyday luxury sports watch, like the Rolex Datejust but with a more nautical approach. Since 2002, it’s carved out its own niche as the brand’s most versatile timepiece, borrowing design cues from both the classic Seamaster line and the dive-focused 300M.

A Match Made on the Water

Surrounding the turquoise dial, the ceramic bezel isn’t entirely new to the Aqua Terra family. It first appeared on the Worldtimer models in 2023. But bringing it down to the standard time-and-date variants feels like a long time coming. Beyond the obvious scratch resistance benefits, the matte black ceramic creates a visual bridge between the darker edges of that gradient dial and the watch’s periphery. It’s a cohesive design choice that gives the entire piece more presence on the wrist.

The integrated rubber strap continues Omega’s recent trend toward sportier presentations. The textured black material features turquoise stitching that complements the dial’s minute track. Steel end-links maintain some formality while the overall package skews more contemporary than the bracelet versions.

It’s What’s on the Inside That Counts

Both sizes house Omega’s Master Chronometer movements visible through the caseback — the 8800 in the 38mm case and the 8900 in the 41mm. These METAS-certified calibers are some of the most robust calibers available today, with 15,000-gauss magnetic resistance and impressive power reserves. The co-axial escapement reduces friction and extends service intervals, making these practical daily-wear pieces beyond their aesthetic appeal.

The dials themselves remain unchanged from the original turquoise releases with lacquered surfaces that shift from bright turquoise centers to near-black edges, punctuated by gray PVD-coated indices and hands. It’s a technique that references water depth while maintaining legibility.
