Luminox has a storied tradition of making military watches. In particular, their connection with the Navy SEALs is famous as the watch they made for the tough U.S. Military branch in 1994 helped launch the brand into relevance. Their timepieces are specifically designed to handle the rigors that come with Special Operations missions. This Veterans Day, the California watchmaker added another rugged offering to their already impressive lineup of Navy SEAL watches: the limited edition Master Carbon SEAL 3801 “Slow Is Smooth, Smooth Is Fast” Tactical Dive Watch.
As the name suggests, the Master Carbon SEAL 3801 channels the famous military mantra, “slow is smooth, smooth is fast.” The saying implies that rushing tasks often leads to mistakes, and mistakes on the battlefield, however small they may be, can be fatal. This famous mantra is engraved in the watch’s dial in red to remind the user that it’s better to be thorough and correct than fast and careless. Being a tactical dive watch, it’s no surprise that the Master Carbon SEAL 3801 has a water resistance of 300 meters and a durable build. Its case features a CARBONOX+ construction, which is an innovative lightweight carbon compound material, as well as a stainless steel caseback on which the Navy SEALs’ logo and the limited-edition number of the watch is engraved. Moreover, the Master Carbon SEAL 3801 uses Luminox Light Technology, providing unrivaled night visibility through a self-powered illumination system that lasts up to 25 years. The watch also features a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating as well as a 316L stainless steel screw-down crown.
The Master Carbon SEAL 3801’s rugged, all-black design parallels the toughness of the SEALs for whom it was originally designed, and it serves as a thoughtful homage to the brave souls who risk their lives for our country on a daily basis. Luminox is limiting the production of the Master Carbon SEAL 3801 to 800 units at $795.
