Hamilton Bolted a Literal Fuel Gauge Onto Its Legendary Khaki Field in Two Fresh Military Colorways

Hand-wound watches require a bit more attention than their standard quartz counterpart. Skip the ritual for a long weekend and you’re left playing detective come Monday, holding the thing up to your ear and guessing how much life is left in the mainspring.

Hamilton solved that problem last year by grafting a power reserve indicator onto its legendary military field watch. Now the brand is doubling the lineup with a pair of fresh colorways: the blue and green editions of the Khaki Field Power Reserve 40mm.

Eighty Hours, Fully Metered

The star of the show remains the gauge tucked in at 9 o’clock. Hamilton kept the iconography refreshingly literal here, with a red F at the top of the arc, a red E at the bottom, and a half mark in between. And it’s all swept by a lumed needle that matches the Old Radium treatment on the handset and hour markers.

Feeding that needle is the Caliber H-23, a hand-wound movement developed exclusively for Hamilton that packs a substantial 80 hours of running time and a magnetism-fighting Nivachron balance spring.

Same Tool, New Paint

The two new dials come in a matte olive green and a matte mid-blue, joining the black and white originals while keeping every military-issue detail intact including oversized Arabic numerals, the inner 13-24 hour track, and triangular lumed markers.

Everything else carries over unchanged. The 40mm case wears a bead-blasted, glare-killing finish over stainless steel, stays just under 12mm thick, and carries a sapphire crystal with AR coating plus 100m of water resistance. Buyers can choose between a color-matched NATO strap with leather keepers or a three-link steel bracelet with a micro-adjustable clasp, blasted to match the case.
