H. Moser & Cie got its start in the watchmaking space nearly 200 years ago, but it wasn’t until the brand’s relaunch a decade and a half ago that it became the risk-taking darling of haute horology that it is today. The Swiss luxury brand has a truly unique style that marries master craftsmanship with fearless design and a wicked sense of humor — something that’s almost always lacking in this self-serious industry. Adding to its stylishly tongue-in-cheek repertoire, H. Moser & Cie is releasing a limited-edition Perpetual Calendar Tutorial with a dial that’s littered with sarcastic instructions.
At first look, the stunning sunburst fumé dial of the Endeavour Perpetual Calendar Tutorial is almost too beautiful to be funny, but like most H. Moser & Cie timepieces, the devil is in the details. While the brand’s original Perpetual Calendars were known for their minimalist design, H. Moser & Cie decided to play up the “funky” part of the new Funky Blue Endeavour Perpetual Calendar Tutorial and make a “perpetual calendar for dummies” version of the iconic timepiece. This take yielded a dial that has notes written on it, which act like a “cheat sheet” to make the famously complex watches easier to use.
The scribbled notes include a shoutout to the leap year display on the case back, a “warning” about the “very rare” 29th of February above the date window, and an explanation of the centrally-mounted month pointer. Aside from the cheeky notes that make the watch so easy to use “that even a child could operate” it, the Tutorial boasts the ultra-reliant and hand-wound HMC 800 Manufacture Caliber, which is on full display thanks to its gorgeous exhibition case back. Additional complications include a small seconds display at 6 o’clock and a power reserve indicator at 9 o’clock.
Housing the sophisticated movement and hilarious dial is a 42mm 18K white gold case with a curved sapphire crystal, and the watch is sold on a kudu leather strap. H. Moser & Cie limited the Endeavour Perpetual Calendar Tutorial to just 20 pieces, and it’s available now for $65,000.
