G-SHOCK Finally Goes Full-Metal on Its ‘CasiOak’ Watch

Ever since G-SHOCK introduced its GA-2100 watch in 2019, the model has become a top seller for the brand thanks in no small part to its octagonal bezel bearing a resemblance to Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak, one of the most popular luxury watches of all time. But other than the shape, the all-resin $99 “CasiOak” didn’t much resemble AP’s flagship timepiece. G-SHOCK got a little closer with the GM-2100 in 2021, which added a stainless steel bezel to the watch.

Now, G-SHOCK has released its most AP-like “CasiOak” yet in the new GMB2100 series. Finally, for the first time ever, the GA-2100 silhouette comes with a stainless steel case, bezel, and bracelet, allowing Royal Oak fans lacking the 40 grand or so needed for the real deal to get their octagonal kicks for much less. The new full-metal “CasiOak” takes after Gérald Genta’s classic not only in general shape but in philosophy too, as the new G-SHOCK is the thinnest yet out of the brand’s full-metal collections, coming in at 12.8mm thick.

The full-metal “CasiOak” also boasts some new finishing that pushes it further into luxury watch territory. The three-step finishing process consists of a circular hair-line finish on the top surfaces, a vertical brushing on the sides, and a polished mirror finish on the main part of the bezel. Despite its upmarket looks, the watch maintains much of the ruggedness and functionality you’d expect from a G-SHOCK, including 200m water resistance, high shock resistance, Tough Solar power, Bluetooth connectivity, and a Double LED Super Illuminator light.

Available in a trio of finishes — Silver, Dark Gray IP, and Copper IP, the full-metal G-SHOCK “CasiOak” of our dreams is available for pre-order now from $550.
