If you’ve been hanging around the watch world for any significant amount of time, you’ve likely heard the passionate pleas from Doxa fans asking—no, begging—for the return of a GMT model to the brand’s lineup. It’s been a staggering 19 years since the cult-favorite SUB 750T GMT hit the scene in 2006, and the drought has finally ended with the arrival of the Doxa SUB 250T GMT. Was it worth the wait? In short: absolutely.

A Two-Decade Wait Ends Today

When Doxa released the SUB 750T GMT back in 2006, it quickly became a coveted piece among collectors. At 45mm, it was a proper beast on the wrist—impressive but certainly not for everyone. Fast forward to 2025, and the brand has returned to the GMT complication with a thoroughly modern take that addresses pretty much every wish list item Doxa enthusiasts have been compiling for the past two decades.

The new SUB 250T GMT takes its primary design cues from the SUB 200T released last year, but bumps the case size up just a hair from 39mm to a Goldilocks-zone 40mm. At a svelte 10.85mm thick with a 42.9mm lug-to-lug span, it wears smaller than the numbers suggest—a Doxa trademark that makes their watches infinitely more versatile than many competitors in the dive watch space.

Colorful Travel Companion

What immediately sets this release apart is Doxa’s decision to launch with a full spectrum of nine colorways right out of the gate. All the classic Doxa hues are present: Professional (orange), Searambler (silver), Sharkhunter (black), Caribbean (navy blue), Divingstar (yellow), along with the newer additions Aquamarine (turquoise), Whitepearl (white), and Sea Emerald (green).

The ninth option, however, offers something entirely new to the Doxa universe—a vintage-inspired “Sharkhunter Vintage” that features a gradient brown-to-black dial, all-white hands reminiscent of early Sharkhunter models, and tan lume. Where the standard models all feature a skeletonized GMT hand similar to the one from the 750T GMT, this vintage variant sports a more traditional arrow-style GMT hand with a pop of red at the tip. It’s a surprisingly tasteful nod to the brand’s heritage while still feeling fresh.

A True Tool Watch, Now For Travelers

What makes the SUB 250T GMT particularly special is how it maintains Doxa’s tool watch DNA while adding genuine travel functionality. The dial preserves the iconic layout with oversized minute hand and high-contrast markers, while adding a 24-hour scale around the perimeter for the GMT tracking. The night hours (6PM to 6AM) are subtly darkened for better visual distinction.

The trademark Doxa bezel with its dual scales remains intact—the outer no-decompression scale and inner minute counter making this first and foremost a dive watch. With 250 meters of water resistance, it lives up to the “250” in its name and offers more than enough capability for recreational diving and most professional needs. This is no desk-diving travel watch; it’s a genuine aquatic tool that happens to track a second time zone.

GMT Done the Right Way

Inside ticks the Sellita SW330-2 automatic movement, which provides the watch with a caller-style GMT function. While true globetrotters might prefer a flyer GMT (where the local hour hand jumps independently), the caller setup suits the SUB 250T’s dive-first, travel-second ethos. With a healthy 50-hour power reserve, it’ll keep running reliably through a weekend away from the wrist.

The movement choice also helps keep the watch at a relatively accessible price point—at least compared to flyer GMT competitors or Doxa’s chronograph models. It’s an appropriate balance of capability and value that has always been central to Doxa’s identity.

Bracelet or Strap? Yes, Please

Like most Doxa models, the SUB 250T GMT comes with the choice of the brand’s iconic “beads of rice” bracelet or a color-matched FKM rubber strap. Both options feature a folding clasp with dive suit extension, highlighting that even with the added GMT functionality, this remains a serious dive watch at heart.

The bracelet deserves special mention—a true Doxa signature that’s been refined over decades. Its combination of comfort, visual appeal, and heritage makes it one of the watch industry’s most distinctive bracelets, instantly recognizable to enthusiasts.
