If you look in the right places online, you can find a wall clock version of Casio’s iconic G-SHOCK wristwatch. It won’t come cheap, but they’re out there. They were never sold by the Japanese company itself but shipped out as promotional products for retailers.
This month, Casio is giving away eight of these G-SHOCK clocks for the lucky winners to hang on their walls (or resell, we suppose). According to the image on the giveaway’s page, the digital clock looks to have the exact same specs as the ones “available” in the past. Made from a black resin that stretches 11” wide and 12.5” tall, the case is based on the iconic DW-6500 timepiece.
Powered by a quartz movement, the hanging clock will display the time digitally, including the seconds, within the octagonal face, with the day of the week and date visible above. Unlike their wristwatch counterparts, the clocks given away in the past don’t have actual functioning pushers or buttons, nor do they light up. However, this is a grail piece for any die-hard G-SHOCK fanatics — and there are a lot of them.
