Founded by brothers Nick and Giles English in 2002, Bremont is an elite luxury watch brand that develops, designs, and manufactures its watches and movements entirely in-house at its state-of-the-art facility in Henley On Thames. More than a mere business opportunity, Bremont is a reflection of the English brothers’ immense passion for mechanics, aviation, and motorsport. And this infatuation is on full display in a great many of British brand’s timepieces— including its latest release, the 2023 Bremont Jaguar C Type Watch.
Released alongside the firm’s new WR-45 watch — a modern limited edition chronograph born out of a collaboration with legendary F1 squad Williams Racing — Bremont’s new Jaguar C-Type reference is an unmistakably vintage-inspired item that draws ample aesthetic influence from Jaguar’s iconic early 1950s era XK120-C racer. The release of this auto-inspired watch coincides with the 70th anniversary of Jaguar’s triumphant victory at the 1953 24 Hours of Le Mans, where the British car-maker’s C-Type secured 1st, 2nd, and 4th place finishes. Water-resistant down to 200 meters, the entire watch is crafted around a 43mm stainless steel Trip-Tick construction case with a PVD-treated middle, a bi-directional rotating bezel, a pair of screw-down chrono pushers, and a screw-down main crown modeled after the mid-century tread pattern on the C-Type’s Dunlop tires. In place of a standard case-back or exhibition window, Bremont has also opted to bestow the back of the watch with an embedded Jaguar “Growler” hood badge.
While based on the same design and platform as Bremont’s existing C-Type watches, the 2023 70th anniversary variant includes a host of unique elements. Sitting beneath a scratch-resistant domed AR-coated sapphire crystal, the watch’s dial consists of a multi-layer setup that features Bremont’s classic raised central section with a debossed Jaguar Heritage logo. Smaller more subtle nods also pay homage to the C-Type, such as the dial’s chronograph hand and red accent on the 9-hour sub-dial — the former of which is inspired by the needle on the C-Type’s tachometer while the later is a nod to the car’s Smiths gauges. Keeping the watch ticking is a modified Calibre 13 1/4’’’ BE-50AV movement that’s been chronometer rated to ISO 3159 standard. Beating at 28,800bph, this automatic movement features 27 jewels, a Nivaflex mainspring, and a Glucydur balance wheel paired with an Anachron balance spring — a setup that results in a 56-hour power reserve. Assembled entirely by hand in the UK, the case has also been mated to a vintage, race-inspired perforated black leather strap contrasted via white accent stitching.
The 2023 Bremont Jaguar C-Type Watch is available for order now, with pricing set at $6,495.
