This North Face Collab Turned the Classic Moka Pot into a Backcountry Essential

Believe it or not, there was once a time when cafe-quality espresso couldn’t really be made at home. That all changed in 1933, when Italian brand Bialetti debuted its Moka Express, a compact and affordable device that utilized hot water’s steam to create pressure to push it through coffee grounds into an upper chamber.

The revolutionary coffee maker is still largely made the same way today, except the company has taken it upon itself to partner with other movers and shakers of the era. For its latest collaboration, Bialetti teamed up with The North Face on a new Moka Express set perfect for your next camping trip.

A Summit-Ready Brew Kit

The TNF x Bialetti Moka Set brings together nearly a century of coffee-making heritage with over half a century of outdoor expertise. At the heart of this limited-edition collaboration sits a 3-cup Moka Express reimagined in Summit Gold — a direct nod to The North Face’s legendary 1985 Expedition Parka. This is a callback to when The North Face was outfitting expeditions to the world’s harshest peaks, and that same gold became synonymous with serious mountaineering.

The kit includes two stainless steel cups (one in jet black, the other in alpine yellow), each bearing their respective brand logos, plus matching spoons engraved with The North Face’s “Never Stop Exploring” motto. There’s also a tin of Bialetti’s Perfetto Moka Classico — a 50/50 Arabica-Robusta blend with hazelnut and dried fruit notes — so you can start brewing right out of the box.

Built for the Backcountry

While Bialetti’s octagonal aluminum design has remained largely unchanged since Alfonso Bialetti and Luigi De Ponti first engineered it in the 1930s, its durability speaks for itself. The boiler holds 4.4oz, enough for three proper cups, and features an easy-clean safety valve that won’t clog up after repeated use. It works on gas, electric, and glass-ceramic cooktops, though you’ll need Bialetti’s induction plate if you’re cooking over induction.

The cups themselves max out at 2oz each — small by American standards but perfectly proportioned for concentrated espresso. At just 5.5″ across, the package is designed with portability in mind, fitting neatly into a bag without adding much bulk.
